FameLab Academy Oxfordshire: empowering young minds in science communication

ATOM Festival is proud to bring FameLab Academy Oxfordshire to schools across the county. Part of the internationally recognised FameLab Academy initiative that began at the Cheltenham Science Festival, the programme has now been running successfully for over 3 years in Oxfordshire!

This exciting opportunity gives Year 9 students the chance to develop their confidence and communication skills through an inspiring competition. Working with a STEM Mentor from academia or industry, students will deliver a three-minute presentation on a scientific topic of their choice.

Presentations are judged on content, clarity, and charisma, encouraging students to communicate science in ways that inspire and captivate their audience.

School winners will earn a place at an exclusive Science Communication Masterclass and go on to compete in the Oxfordshire Finals at the ATOM Festival in March 2027.

Open to all Oxfordshire schools, as well as schools in neighbouring border areas that do not have access to a local FameLab Academy programme.
